Coverage is more than an inseam number

Bermuda and knee-length descriptions point toward longer silhouettes, while some listings provide a numeric inseam. These are useful clues, not interchangeable measurements. A hem’s position also depends on rise and how the shorts sit on your waist.

Before you choose

Compare the same size whenever possible and check seated coverage before treating a longer cut as the solution. A wide leg opening can behave differently from a narrower one of equal length. If a listing only says Bermuda, ask for the actual inseam rather than converting the style name into an invented number.
